Usability Testing
Usability tests help uncover and quantify design-related flaws. At Capgemini, we use two methods for performing usability tests: user walkthroughs and heuristic analysis.
User Walkthroughs
We work directly with your users to step through an application using usability software such as Morae®. Our walkthrough method uses a specific task flow and session script and is performed in a natural environment to get an accurate snapshot of the user experience. While performing each task, users are encouraged to think aloud so we can observe and analyze each action using the usability software. Key outputs from the user walkthroughs include:
- Cognitive framework of the user while performing a specific task
- Shortest-Average-Highest Time taken for task
- Shortest-Average-Highest mouse clicks
- Shortest-Average-Highest key strokes
- Arrive at user perceived rating based on severity levels of best practice attributes

Heuristic Analysis
Capgemini's usability experts conduct tests using heuristic tools and devise quantitative output by ratings given using industry best practice attributes and their severity levels on a website or an application. Key outputs include:
- Navigation structure & search
- Intuitiveness of the application
- Data & content representation
- Efficiency & error recovery
- Interaction modes
- Dynamic & interactive elements
- Aesthetics & visual design
